Jobs Fair

Fancy a change of career or need to improve your skills?

Those looking to improve their skills, or move into a new area, are invited to attend the upcoming Tendring Jobs and Careers Fair. Organised by Tendring District Council (TDC) in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, the Jobs and Careers Fair is a showcase of vacancies and potential career opportunities from employers in the local and wider area. The free event is usually held at Clacton’s Princes Theatre and more than 55 stall holders have previously exhibited from both local and national employers, running from 10am to 4pm and there were also training opportunities on offer.

“If you are looking for a job, interested in a change of career or want to get back onto work then come along to the Jobs Fair as there are opportunities for everyone.”

Past exhibitors have included: Stansted Airport, Anglian Water, BT Martlesham, Sainsbury’s, Alston’s, Dura Composites, Surya Hotels & Surya Foods, Lifehouse Spa & Hotel, The Armed forces, Essex University and Colchester Institute.

Previously there was the ‘Hands on Skills Activities’ area in The Marquee. This area included a whole range of activities for visitors to try including bricklaying, carpentry, ‘mock cocktail’ making, hand massage techniques – to name just a few.

Councillor Mary Newton, Cabinet Member for Business and Economic Growth said: “We are delighted to build on the success of previous years, attracting several new businesses which are exhibiting for the first time. There will be some great career opportunities available, so I’d encourage anyone wanting a new job, a change in career or are returning to work to attend – and its free to all to attend.”

Kate Bloom, Customer Service Leader for Colchester, Clacton, and Harwich Jobcentres said: “DWP are proud to be working in partnership with TDC, supporting the local community and engaging with local employers to help enhance the working lives of Tendring residents”.
