Advice and information on funding is provided at CVST. 

We can offer advice, guidance and information to voluntary/community groups on:

  • Constitutions
  • Charitable status 
  • Policies & practices 
  • Quality standards
  • Identifying funding opportunities 
  • Advice on completing application forms

As part of this service, voluntary and community groups can also access a regular funding news sheet and attend ‘Meet the Funder’ events, which are held to give organisations the ideal opportunity to speak directly to funders about their projects/ideas in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

11/6/2020 - Children in Need

The Next Steps programme will open for applications from 10 June 2020.

The Next Steps programme is our response programme designed to deliver support for children and young people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible organisations will be able to apply for up to £80,000 for projects commencing in September 2020. These grants can last up to 18 months. It is designed for established organisations who are already delivering work in their communities and further afield.

The deadline for this programme is 1 July 2020. We expect that this fund will be over-subscribed and only a proportion of applications will be successful. We also know that you need funding quickly

11/6/2020 - Independent Age Grants Fund

Before coronavirus struck the nation, Independent Age was exploring how to strengthen collaboration with older people and local organisations with the aim of shaping a more active role in supporting communities. But right now, our focus must be directed towards the current crisis. We can’t do this alone which is why our trustees have released £2 million from Independent Age’s funds to help smaller organisations across the UK working with older people hardest hit by the virus.  Our Grants Fund will comprise of four separate funding rounds. In each round we will make £500,000 available where organisations can apply to receive up to £15,000 each.
The next funding round opens on 8th June and closes at 9am on 2nd July Decisions will be announced by 17th July  go to the website for criteria and application details.

8/6/2020 - Earls Hall Farm Community Benefit Fund

Grants avaliable to support community initiatives:
The Earls Hall Farm Community Benefit Fund, which is managed by Essex Community Foundation (ECF), has grants available to support charitable projects benefiting the communities of St Osyth Ward, Bockings Elm Ward and Little Clacton.
Projects that have received support previously include:

  • Active for Life (Point Clear) received £750 to help subsidise the cost of weekly fitness classes for over 50's in St. Osyth
  • st St Osyth Scout Group received £3,500 towards the refurbishment of their Scout hut
  • Windmill Carpet Bowls Club received £2,409 to hire a hall and buy equipment for a new club for older people

4/6/2020 - Community Initiative Fund 2020 – NOW OPEN

A new fund was launched by Essex County Council (ECC) on 1 April 2019 and will be administered by the Essex Association of Local Councils (EALC) over a two year period.  This new fund includes various community grant schemes that have been funded by Essex County Council.  This includes:

  • the existing CIF
  • Local Service Fund
  • Local Connections Fund
  • Cultural Development Grant

For the CIF, grants of up to £10,000 may be awarded for either a Capital or Revenue (not core costs) project.  One off grant awards will be made in October 2020.

Micro-grants of up to £500 are also available throughout the year and awarded once a month.

This fund excludes projects that deliver outside the administrative area of Essex County Council.

21/5/2020  National Lottery Community Fund

We’re delighted to confirm that the Government’s new Coronavirus Community Support Fund will open for applications at 10am on Friday 22nd May. This new funding stream makes available £200m in Government funding that will be aimed primarily at small to medium organisations in England.  The Fund has two key objectives:

  1. To increase community support to vulnerable people affected by the COVID-19 crisis, through the work of civil society organisations.
  2. To reduce temporary closures of essential charities and social enterprises, ensuring services for vulnerable people impacted by COVID-19 have the financial resources to operate, and so reduce the burden on public services

4/5/2020 - Coronavirus Grants for Community and Sports Centres and Village Halls
Under the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant (RHLG) eligible businesses in England in receipt of the Expanded Retail Discount (which covers retail, hospitality and leisure) with a rateable value of less than £51,000 will be eligible for a cash grants of £10,000 or £25,000 per property.”  The guidance explicitly includes charities that meet this eligibility criteria. So if your organisation qualifies, you should be getting this grant.  As examples:  sports clubs or grounds, public halls, museums and art galleries.  Word of caution, it is at the discretion of the Local Authority.

 

20/4/2020 - Charity funding from the government £750m support package for UK charities

The government is currently drawing up plans for the design and delivery of the funding, including money delivered through the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF). Starting with a contribution of at least £20m to the National Emergencies Trust

• Organisations supporting people who are at high risk from COVID-19  
• Organisations supporting communities most likely to face increased demand and challenges as a direct result of COVID-19  
• Organisations with high potential to support communities with the direct and indirect impact of COVID-19
