Summer Resilience

Staying safe in the summer

Our new annual project to help keep Tendring residents safe and well during the summer months is gearing up for the warm season. The Resilience Project, from Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) has again received funding from the North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group to extend our Winter Warmers project throughout the year to include Summer Safety and Resilience.

The project aims to work flexibly and innovatively to prevent summer-related illnesses, increase people’s ability to keep cool during the summer and improve access to information and services that will support the community to be more resilient. This includes ensuring people are aware of their safety on the beach, at the park and the woods, supporting with access to resources and products, extreme weather response, and training for staff and volunteers within community organisations to give practical support to keep people well.

We are supported by many local organisations and services including Essex Fire Service and Essex Police.  The project is aimed at families with young children, older people, those on low incomes and benefits, disabled, people who are homeless, and a key aim is to ensure that children and young people are supported.

Lee Knight, Resilience Manager, said: “This project aims to provide information, safety advice and practical resources to the community to stay safe and well during the summer months. To ensure the project reaches those who really need it, we shall run various roadshows and events across Tendring which we encourage people to come along to, working to ensure that people know where to go for help with medical matters, minor injuries, and illness e.g., pharmacies, 111, Urgent Care Treatment Centres.

People who need assistance, or who want to refer others for help, should contact CVST on 01255 425692 option 3, or email Resilience@cvstendring.org.uk
