Project Ignite
Project Ignite
Project Ignite offers a varied timetable of activities for young people aged 16- 18 years old (up to 21 if SEND). We want to create a nurturing and safe environment where you can have access to Kennedy Way Community Garden and other safe spaces with trusted adults. The activities will include skill-building sessions, and you will work collaboratively with positive role models.
As a young person, you will develop a strong sense of community belonging, self-worth and build your confidence. These core strengths will empower you to make better informed and healthier life choices.
You will be in an environment that is inclusive and non-judgmental. You will engage with your community and feel a stronger sense of belonging. Meaningful relationships with adult volunteers who will share life experiences to show you that challenges can be overcome, enabling us all to move forward in life.
At Project Ignite, we will help you to:
- Make new friends
- Learn new skills
- Have an edge when competing for jobs or college places
- Build resilience
- Raise aspirations
- Reduce stress, anxiety and depression
- Build confidence and self-esteem
- Gives you a sense of purpose
- Can make you happier – really? Yes! A study in America showed that the more volunteering people did, the happier they were!
The project delivers a weekly structured timetable of activities. All the sessions will be led by staff with adult volunteers (All adults will have an Enhanced DBS):
