Upskill and Gain Qualifications

CVST provides courses and training to its staff, affiliated members and organisations, charities, voluntary organisations, and individuals. 

Courses take place at CVST’s Imperial House in Clacton-on-Sea, at our Dovercourt and Harwich Hub, or can be completed online.  

With friendly and knowledgeable trainers, our courses will: 

  • increase your confidence in the workplace; 
  • increase your chances to get a new job;
  • enrich your CV; 
  • make you more knowledgeable; 
  • upgrade your skillset.  

We regularly run courses on mental health awareness, emergency first aid at work, dementia friend awareness, identifying and addressing fuel poverty, speaking with confidence, and more.

Training with other providers

InterAct Prevention and Postvention Suicide training

InterAct will be running FREE workshops for anyone who works or lives within North Essex (Colchester and Tendring Distirict)
Each workshop lasts 4 hours and refreshments will be provided, most of the venues come with free parking too.

InterAct Mental Health First Aid training

This course is ideal for those who would like to become an MHFAider to:
– Gain the knowledge and skills to spot the signs of people experiencing poor mental health
– Be confident starting a conversation and signpost a person to appropriate support

This two-day virtual MHFA course is divided into four sessions:
Dates: Tuesdays 28th Nov, 5th 12th 19th Dec 2023 from 09:30 to 14:00

The Onboarding: induction training for newly appointed Trustees

This session is part of a Trustee Learning Programme, providing free and high-quality training to support people to become and serve as effective trustees.
Many trustees tell us they didn’t have a clear overview of their responsibilities when inducted into their board.

This free one hour session takes you through trustee duties in a clear and engaging way. This session is also suitable as a refresher for existing trustees.

By the end of this introductory webinar you will understand:

The role of a trustee
The main duties and responsibilities of a trustee
How to carry out your trusteeship duties effectively
The webinar is free to attend with an option to make a donation of your choice in checkout.
This webinar runs monthly for an hour, from 5.30-6.30pm and is held on Zoom.

Cyber Security

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is offering small charities free support to put protectiosn in place against cyber attacks.
Micro and small charities (with one to 49 employees) that process personal data, defined under GDPR, are eligable.

Suicide Awareness Friend workshops

A free workshop consisting of two 2 hour virtual sessions to give you the skills and confidence to be an informed friend for someone who is at risk of ending a short term problem with a long term solution.

Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme (DAPP)

The programme is for indivduals who want to stop being abusive towards their (ex) partners and are motivated to change. The programme accepts both statuory and self-referrals for both male and females.
