50th Anniversary AGM

CVST showcases amazing support at 50th anniversary AGM

African drumming welcomed special guests to an evening showcase of the work of a charitable organisation.

Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) held it’s 50th anniversary annual general meeting at the Tendring Education Centre in Jaywick Lane, Clacton on September 13th.

Compered by BBC Essex’s Dave Monk, the evening included stories of volunteering, support and even how the life of one beneficiary was saved by the work of social prescribing.

Brenda Ellis, chair of CVST, said: “The evening was such a resounding success.

“Hearing the inspirational stories of the people CVST has helped was incredible and really brought home the impact our projects and services have on the lives of people in Tendring.”

The AGM included films telling the stories of those helped by CVST, and speeches from CVST’s chair and chief officer, the Lord Lieutenant of Essex Jennifer Tolhurst, and Tendring District Council chairman councillor Gary Scott.

Chief officer, Sharon Alexander, said: “What I enjoyed most about the 50th anniversary AGM was seeing the reaction to the stories we told.

“Our guests, most of whom already know very well the work we do, were still taken aback by hearing first-hand the impact our projects have had on the lives of residents, and from the staff involved in helping those people.

“It was a wonderful way to celebrate 50 years of CVST and remind ourselves just how important the work we do is.

“Thank you to our affiliated members, partners and guests for sharing the occasion with us.”
