Celebrating our Volunteers

A big thanks to CVST volunteers

A VOLUNTARY organisation is thanking its volunteers for their hard work supporting the community in Tendring.

Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) is celebrating its volunteers for National Volunteers Week this week.

Volunteer week runs from 3rd – 9th June, and CVST has planned different events to celebrate volunteers and help others get into volunteering.

Lisa Andrews, deputy chief officer at CVST, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to all our amazing volunteers, who have done an incredible job helping others in the community.

“Our volunteers do so much, from helping at our friendship groups and on reception, to shaping Kennedy Way Community Garden into the beautiful space it is.

“All our volunteers work hard to help those around them and bring a good spirit to everyone that comes to CVST.

“We really couldn’t do all the brilliant work we do without their support.”

CVST will also be holding a Volunteer Breakfast for organisations on Thursday morning to support the voluntary sector, followed by a Volunteers Fair for the public.

Held from 10.30am on Thursday 6th June at Imperial House, Rosemary Road, Clacton, residents are invited to come and find out more about what volunteering involves and how you can get involved.

Lisa added: “There’s a reason volunteers keep giving up their time, and that’s because of how much they enjoy it.

“Volunteering can work around your life and commitments; it brings joy to your life and to others.

“Once you find something that fits your skills and interests, volunteering is a fun way to improve your own wellbeing and to help others.”

The Volunteers Fair will have different organisations on hand with volunteering opportunities available.

CVST volunteer Pat Lee said: “I started volunteering 8 years ago now when I came in for help with a tablet.

“I started with Click Clack Craft and now also do the Friendship Café and Card Making.

“Volunteering is a really good thing. If you are lonely or bored it’s the best thing.

“It helped me to mix with more people and really helped me when my husband of 57 years died.

“I really enjoy volunteering.”
