Chinese New Year with CVST and Street Tag
FREE family events are being held to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) is helping celebrate the new year with three events.
The first is Chinese New Year with Street Tag on Saturday 25th January at Soken House, Frinton on Sea, 10am until 12pm.
Harwich will then also celebrate with a Chinese New Year themed Street Tag event on Saturday 1st February at Dovercourt and Harwich Hub, 10am until 12pm.
Both events offer free refreshments, physical activities including Tai Chi and crafts, and are open to all residents, even if you’re not a Street Tag player.
Game co-ordinator, Becky Dowling, said: “Street Tag is a great way to help start the new year!
“And our Chinese New Year events are an excellent opportunity for families and residents to join in the fun and get active.
“Come along for a morning filled with crafts, physical activities and earn yourself some Street Tag points.”
The Street Tag community game ended on January 16, but the school’s game is still up and running.
Becky added: “The school game started just before Christmas and is still going until the Wednesday 12th February, so sign up and get tagging to earn points and win prizes!”
The one-off Chinese New Year events have been funded by Anglian Community Trust through Active Essex.
There will be Tai Chi as well as a chance to learn how to write and say Happy New Year with the Chinese Society.
CVST is also hosting a Chinese New Year event alongside the Colchester Chinese Culture Society, on Sunday 2nd February at Imperial House, Rosemary Road, at 1pm until 3pm.
The free event welcomes residents to enjoy an afternoon filled with Traditional dances, music, entertainment and refreshments.
