CVST staff Raise money for Mind charity

STAFF from a community organisation are stepping up for charity by completing a February step challenge.

Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) colleagues Becky Dowling, Shirley Barrell, Fran Warren and Tracy Lawrie are taking up the challenge to complete 58 Miles for Mind this month.

They will be walking, jogging, or wheeling the mileage in a bid to raise awareness and money for the mental health charity.

Becky, CVST’s physical activity co-ordinator, said: “I saw this challenge come up and thought it would be a great initiative to be a part of.

“We all know how important mental health is and in our jobs we work to support and improve the wellbeing of residents across Tendring.

“We see first-hand how important mental wellbeing is and how mental health can impact every area of your life as well as your physical health.”

Becky and her colleagues are also supporters of using physical activity to improve mental wellbeing.

Becky added: “We are all fairly active as individuals but thought this challenge would stretch us, to help us get even more active at the same time as supporting such a worthwhile cause.

“Being active can be so beneficial for your overall health as well as your mental health, whether it be walking or cycling or something like yoga or seated classes – it’s just a case of doing something you enjoy at a level you are comfortable with.”

Mind’s 58 Miles for February Challenge asks participants to complete the distance at their own pace throughout the month.

Money raised can then help the charity in it’s fight for better mental health.
