Free Family First Aid Workshops

THE first of a series of free family first aid workshops has been held in Tendring.

Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST), in partnership with Adult Community Learning (ACL), has organised the free Summer Family First Aid Workshops.

The half day events, which started in Walton on Friday, July 22, teach families skills to be able to look after each other with outdoor emergencies at the parks, woods, beach and more.

All ages were welcome, and participants were also treated to a free travel first aid kit at the end of the session.

Lee Knight, CVST’s resilience team manager, said: “It was great to see the first of these events take place, teaching families vital first aid skills to keep themselves and their loved ones safe when out and about this summer.

“The half day workshops include really important tips taught in a fun and interactive way.

“Our first event in Walton saw families learn how to put someone in the recovery position – they were also given homework to find their nearest defibrillator.

“Families at the workshop were able to ask questions and many raised concerns about sea, beach and water safety.”

Further workshops are being held in St Osyth and Harwich.

A free lunch, of sandwiches, fruit and snacks, is provided to those at the event thanks to a £500 donation from Asterbourne Chinese Takeaway in Coppins Road, Clacton.
