Victorian Christmas Market a record-breaker

A RECORD-BREAKING charity Christmas market has been hailed “the best one ever”.

Community Voluntary Services Tendring held it’s annual Victorian Christmas Market on Saturday, November 15 at the Princes Theatre in Clacton.

More than 2,000 shoppers are thought to have attended the event, which has raised £2,153 for CVST and hundreds more for the charities that had stalls.

Lee Knight, who organised the event for CVST, said: “It was the best Christmas Market we’ve ever had.

“We had so many people come through the doors, the stalls all looked amazing and the performers on stage gave the whole event such a lovely atmosphere.

“We raised more money than ever before, and stallholders spoke about how well they had done too.

“It was a brilliant day.

“Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported the event and all the organisations who dressed up and had stalls.

“This is the biggest charity Christmas market in Clacton and it means so much to us to be able to hold a wonderful festive event that supports the local organisations doing such great work in Tendring all year round.”

The Victorian Christmas Market included performances by Alton Park Junior School Choir, Kaleidoscope Choir, Mad About Theatre, Fitsteps, Seated Dance, Clacton and District Caledonian Society, SingalongaPen, The Salvation Army Band, and Clacton Carnival Queen and Princesses who opened the event.

Food and drink were run by Mad About Theatre, while in the hall Clacton Rotary had a Santa’s grotto, and Tendring Council’s pantomime stars for this year’s The Magical Adventures of Peter Pan took photos with shoppers and promoted the show with a sneak preview on stage.

Winning stalls were Sailship for Best Costumes, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society Clacton and District Branch Jewellery Stall won the Best Dressed Stall.
