Spring celebration at community garden
A COMMUNITY garden showcased the skill, hard work and huge accomplishments of volunteers, staff and residents at its Spring Open Day.
Kennedy Way Community Garden, run by Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) had stalls, sales and refreshments on Wednesday.
The event aimed to encourage people to come and visit the community space and see the latest developments.
There was a hugely popular plant sale, book sale, crafts, handmade items and more.
Lynn Reed-Golden, CVST’s community connector at Kennedy Way Community Garden, said: “We had a fantastic day at the garden, the sun was shining and there were lots of people coming to see all that we do.
“The community garden is a space for everyone, we welcome people to come and sit and use the garden, the outside gym equipment, and just enjoy the open air.
“We have wildlife areas, sensory plants, an accessible path, a little pond, and so many beautiful plants and flowers.
“We also have a number of groups we run throughout the week, and members of these were at the open day showing what they can do.”
There was pyrography and crafting, shell wind chimes, macrame, wood sculpting, and more.
Lynn added: “It is incredible to see the skills people have, and they bring them to our garden to share with others and teach them too.
“We have a Men’s Shed, gardening groups, Wellness Monday group, and even Tai Chi.
“It’s just lovely to see everyone together enjoying all the things we have created.
“I want to thank everyone who came along and everyone who helped to make it such a success.”
