Summer of Cycling 2024

A series of free cycling events has returned to all of Tendring this summer to get residents more active.

The Summer of Cycling started on August 3rd and will run until October 30th in Clacton, Point Clear, Jaywick Sands, Walton and Harwich.

Organised and run by Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) and Essex Pedal Power, the 14 activities are being funded and supported by Active Essex, Frinton and Walton Town Council and Cycling UK’s Big Bike Revival.

There will be opportunities to learn the basic skills of riding a bike with Learn to Ride sessions, as well as how to keep your bike in the best condition with Learn to Fix lessons and sessions with Dr Bike.

There will also be group rides, where you can meet new friends and cycle with other residents.

Becky Dowling, physical activity coordinator for CVST has been organising the events, along with Big Bike Revival and Essex Pedal Power.

She said: “We had a very successful Summer of Cycling last year and look forward to another great summer of cycling events.

“The Summer of Cycling will give you the opportunity to stay active with others, learn new skills and make new friends this summer.

“With cycling events in Clacton, Point Clear, Harwich and Walton there should be something for everyone to get involved in and we look forward to seeing people out on their bikes over the summer.”

Due to limited spaces, it is essential to book for Learn to Ride events.
