Volunteer & Community Connector - Employability & Skills

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:                      Communities Manager

HOURS:                                      21 hrs per week

SALARY:                                     £12394.72 pro rata to £21838.32 per annum

HEAD OFFICE BASE:                   Imperial House, Rosemary Road, Clacton, CO15 1NZ or Dovercourt & Harwich Hub, 276 High Street, Dovercourt, CO12 3PD (note office base can be either depending on where successful candidate lives)

PURPOSE OF THE POST:  

The Volunteer and Community Connector will be part of CVST’s Healthier Independent Longer Lives (HILL) Team and will be working closely with individuals and groups, supporting, encouraging, and developing local residents to create new activities, encourage participation and carry out monitoring through surveys. The postholder will have a specific focus on people who are unemployed and those with low skills.

Main Duties

  • To connect with individuals in the community by attending clubs, groups, activities, and events.
  • To support and engage with those individuals to take control of their wellbeing, live independently, and improve their health outcomes.
  • To work with individuals to encourage them to improve their health and wellbeing. This may include introducing them or reconnecting them to activities, community groups, volunteering, and local services.
  • To support and facilitate the development of new activities.
  • To support individuals with accessing transport to attend clubs and activities.
  • To support individuals to access local training opportunities.
  • To act as a point of contact for enquiries, answering the phone, emails, and social media enquiries.
  • To maintain accurate records
  • Work with CVST colleagues to help assist at events including summer safety, Town Centre Community Fair, winter resilience activities, cultural awareness activities, training and other ad-hoc activities as needed throughout the year.
  • To take referrals from the Social Prescribing team and partner organisations to support individuals to connect to the community and to refer those individuals with greater needs into the Social Prescribing team.
  • To work in partnership with the CVST Volunteer Coordinator and the Social Prescribing Team, support and utilise volunteers.
  • To provide reception cover and support other CVST projects as required.
